JUSTIN Snaith makes his weekly trip to Port Elizabeth today and has a strong chance of taking first prize in the East Cape Paddock Stakes in which he saddles two useful competitors.

Helena and Jabulani Jive are his representatives over the Fairview 1600m and topweight Helena has a slightly better chance on her most recent form. She won her penultimate start over this journey at Kenilworth when proving a head too good for Gone Wild and more recently, she won over 1200m at the expense of Great Love.

That race was the East Cape Breeders at Fairview and this Camden Park mare has the services of capable Richard Fourie.

Jabulani Jive will be partnered by Andrew Fortune and makes her Fairview debut. Her latest effort was in the Ladies Mile at Kenilworth where she put in a decent effort in finishing fourth behind Canadian Sunset.

Recent Vodacom July joint winner Dancer’s Daughter finished nine lengths ahead of her in the Paddock Stakes over 1800m at Kenilworth at the beginning of the year and form of that calibre is more than good enough to see her win here.

Amongst the local hopefuls, Jettatura enters the reckoning on her most recent form. She has to overcome a wide draw which is not in her favour, but is the type who can switch off at the back of the field and make up the necessary ground to be in the shake-up.

She is trained by Alan Greeff and will have in-form Greg Cheyne in the irons which will be to her advantage.

Great Love ran above expectations when second to Helena over 1200m recently. She won her previous start over this trip by four lengths and went down by a neck to Jettatura three starts back. She is another runner worth considering. Her task will be made tougher by an outside draw.

Thunderous Belinda has been matching strides with Jettatura in recent outings and is another who could lay claims to a decent stake cheque.
