Tuvana Silva can give a polished display at Fairview

Trainer Alan Greeff

TRAINER Alan Greeff can get back into the spotlight when he saddles Tuvana Silva in the Fillies Guineas Plate over 1400m at Fairview today. Greeff has been having a quiet time of it of late but looks to have a number of winning chances at this fixture, including the main event which carries prize money of R70 000.

Tuvana Silva won her debut by five lengths at Fairview over 1200m and followed up with a facile success over 1400m in a Juvenile Plate some 26 days later.

In her next start, she took on highly rated Mother Russia in a juvenile feature. Despite being fancied in the betting, she was no match for her rival and finished a well-beaten third.

She has run in two sprints since and had to settle for second in both.

Reverting to 1400m could be just what the doctor has ordered. After all, Mother Russia has won two more races over 1400m in the Cape and is now a five-time winner.

In this event, Tuvana Silva takes on a fairly weak field and should go close.

Ocean Of Fire is rated five points below Tuvana Silva but has to shoulder the same weight.

Jockey Willie Uys was in the saddle the last time she won and will be reunited with her for this event.

Ocean Of Fire has only had one start in Port Elizabeth – when beating Scripture by 0.50 lengths.

Interestingly, Scripture was 1.50 lengths ahead of Tuvana Silva in that race won by Mother Russia and Ocean Of Fire might have a slight advantage on form. In Tuvana Silva’s favour, though, are her three runs at Fairview while Ocean Of Fire lacks course experience.

Airs Of Light and Bright Candle look best of the rest.
