TRAINER Mitchell Wiese returns home345 following a visit to the Western Cape where he enjoyed a fair measure of success. He saddles Lizard’s Desire in Race 6, the Sophomore Plate over 1400m at Fairview today.

<div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">This Lizard Island colt was a member of Wiese’s raiding party and was not entirely outclassed against some of the best three-year-olds in the land while in Cape Town.</div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">In the Cape Guineas over 1600m at Kenilworth back in December, he faded out of contention to finish 7.50 lengths behind highly promising Le Drakkar. Then next time out over 1800m, he was well placed entering the straight but tired late to finish seven lengths behind Robinson Crusoe.</div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">He suffered interference in both outings and might have finished closer with an easier passage.</div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">He faces weaker opposition on this occasion and is sure to be right there when it matters under Guillermo Figueroa, rides the colt for the first time.</div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">Trainer Alan Greeff is represented by Thunderflash, who has won three of his five races over 1400m.</div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">He was gelded before his last race and was badly in need of the run in that 1200m sprint at the end of January.</div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">This son of Bezrin is expected to make a great deal of improvement, particularly as he will sport blinkers for the first time and is well drawn.</div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt">Wiese-trained Barthez also has his first outing in his home345 province following a visit to the Western Cape. He did not let his province down in either start – he showed tremendous pace before tiring late behind Blue Tiger in the Diadem Stakes and then improved to finish fourth behind Wethreekings over 1100m after setting a scorching early gallop. He looks hard to beat.</div>
