Ken Nicol: Miss Frankel failed to fire as 9-10 favourite at Kenilworth last week and trainer Dennis Drier said the filly was lame in the off-fore knee.
“She will have to go for x-rays,” was his glum assessment on Friday, which casts doubt over her immediate racing future.
The first daughter of the mighty UK superhero Frankel in South Africa, Miss Frankel has caught the imagination of racing folk and her return to the racecourse brought quite a few extra faces to the track.
However, there was a virtual replay of her very first career outing when she had flopped on debut at Kenilworth in January. Fittingly, she looked a million dollars in the preliminaries and went off at 9-10. She travelled well up to a point, but failed to finish off and plodded into fifth, well beaten by well-tried Nanna Anna.
