Viv Greybe: Following the trainer-jockey combination of Alan Greeff and Aldo Domeyer could pay dividends on a competitive eight-event card at Monday’s meeting on the Polytrack at Fairview.
The duo has a bright chance to strike in Race 1 with Nicole who will be a warm order in a Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1300m. This three-year-old, placed in her last six starts this season, had Domeyer aboard only once when she was a creditable 1.5-length fourth from a wide draw over the course and distance. The luckless filly should be rewarded for consistency this time when competing in somewhat weaker company.
Watch out for the combination in Race 4 when Sanctuary steps out in a MR 68 Handicap (F&M) over 1900m. The four-time winner showed significant improvement in her last two runs over 2000m on turf at Fairview, finishing fifth and a half-length third in a MR 68 Handicap. The switch to the Polytrack is no concern as three of the mare’s wins were on the surface.
Domeyer will be aboard Greeff-trained three-time winner So Enchanting, a likely favourite in Race 5, a MR 68 Handicap (F&M) over 1900m. The four-year-old made light of 58.5kg in her most recent outing when coming from well off the pace in a field of 15 and scoring by an increasing 2.25 lengths in a 1600m MR 68 Handicap on turf at Fairview. Though having to carry 2.5kg more this time, she could still have the edge.
Wish To Land can defy top weight in Race 6, a MR 62 Handicap over 1600m, while the stable also sends out another bright prospect in four-year-old Lord Windermere in Race 7, a MR 80 Handicap over 1200m.
