Crown him King Karis of Maurafrica

Trevor Reid: Although followers of South African horse racing regard Karis Teetan as a South African he was actually born and raised in Mauritius.

For the purposes of this article and future articles I will, however,
refer to him as South African even it is only honorary. In my defence, Teetan has represented South Africa in International riding events.

Still only 27 years old Teetan is having a very good season in Hong Kong and sits third on a total of 33 wins. Only Zac Purton(61 wins) and Jaoa Moreira(71 wins) are ahead of him and that is no mean feat as both those riders are Champion Jockeys of Hong Kong.

Teetan represented South Africa in the 2012 International Jockeys’ Invitational in Seoul in Korea, as well as the Macau Apprentice Jockeys Invitation Races in 2008.

It is also worth noting that Teetan notched up an impressive 50 wins in his first full season in Hong Kong.He has rides in 7 of the 9 races at Happy Valley today. Let’s take a run through them..

Race 1: No 12 Faithful Boy is a R34 a win shot on the TAB and his recent form suggests he will not be winning this race.

Race 3; No 9 Horse Prosperous is a R14 a win on the TAB and has only run twice in Hong Kong for 2 unplaced runs. He could improve.

Race 4: No 9 Noble De Boy shows R5.90 on the TAB and is back over 1000m and is likely to run a decent race.

Race 5: No 12 Good Choice Ahead at R5.50 on the TAB ran nicely for him in his penultimate start so must be given the utmost respect.

Race 7: No 11 Acclaimed Light at R6. on the TAB has been improving with each run this year and must be worth an each-way shout.

Race 8: No 10 Back In Black at R4.90 on the TAB was touched off in last start over this course and distance and is well drawn. Go Karis Go !!!!

Race 9: No No 10 Lets Take It Easy at R3.70 on the TAB is looking for a hat-trick of wins which is not an easy task in Hong Kong handicaps but we will be shouting this home.
