Viv Greybe: Dennis Drier-trained Seattle Skyline, who has been unplaced only twice in his 10 starts, looks on target to land his third win on Wednesday at the Greyville Polytrack where he teams up with Sean Veale in Race 6 and top-rated event, a MR 88 Handicap over 1400m.
This four-year-old caught punters off-guard in his penultimate outing when stepping up in class and a gutsy0.5-length winner in the KZN Summer Challenge 1600 Final at Scottsville with Veale up.
He followed up with another stout effort – finishing third with Keagan de Melo aboard in a MR 88 Handicap over 1400m. Reunited with Veale and having the advantage of the best draw, the combination will be tough to beat.
Making most appeal of the others are Founding Father, Flying Free, Amazon King and Varallo.
The same combination has a bright chance of success in Race 2 with three-year-old Taranaki who contests a Maiden Plate over 1400m. This gelding has been threatening a win in his five runs this season, especially in his most recent outing when running on strongly and finishing a 0.75-length second in a big field at Scottsville over 1600m. He is unlikely to miss this time when taking on only eight rivals, the best of which are Socrates, Sand Path and Grande Maestro.
Look for further improvement from Michael Miller-trained Dark Sienna who steps out in Race 3 with top-flight Anton Marcus up for the first time in a Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1400m. The last time this filly raced on the Polytrack was three runs back when she came from last to finish second over 1400m. She followed up with a second and third at Scottsville, but rates a strong contender this time when back at the Polytrack.
The pick of the others are Crown Charka, Prosperous, Loftus and Madame Defarge.
Another worth following is Robbie Hill-trained Everlasting Love (Veale) who lines up in Race 5, a MR 76 Handicap (F&M) over 1400m.This three-year-old, who was a smart winner on debut over the course and distance, won with authority three runs later in her most recent outing with Veale aboard over the same distance at Scottsville.
Also in with claims are Byline, Diamond Noir, Simply Scrumptious and School Run.
