2kg penalty for African Night Sky

2kg penalty for African Night Sky

Ken Nicol: After his fluent win in the Cup Trial on Saturday, ruling Vodacom July favourite African Night Sky’s Merit Rating has been raised from 108 to 112.

This means that he will now carry 57kg in the big race, assuming that projected top weight Coral Fever accepts to run.

The official handicappers used third placed Platinum Prince as the line horse.

While he was only beaten just under a length, which equates to 2 points, a further 2 points were given due to the ease of African Night Sky’s victory, meaning a 2kg adjustment in total.

Undercover Agent is now the highest rated horse in the country following his hard earned win over fellow sophomore Snowdance in the Gold Challenge.

Here Sail South (123) was used as the key horse.

Undercover Agent is now a whopping 125, while the filly Snowdance goes up to 119.
