Trevor Reid: The TAB have decided to hold a special Pick 6 for the meeting inSingapore today and the interest in this meeting is high as there are a number of South African connections.
A Jockeys Challenge is the main focus but punters are more likely to have their attention on a Pick 6 pool that is expected to be in the region of R400 000.
It does look a particularly competitive meeting as most Jockeys Challenges do and there does not appear to be any signs of a possible banker.
For the punter looking to build a bank (1) Sacred Magic looks hard to oppose in the first and a nice win bet is suggested. It could also pay to take a Trifecta and Quartet with it as a banker and taking the field for the places Trifecta 1 x Field(R30-Quartet R120).
The first leg of the Pick 6, Race 2 at 12:55 sees 12 go to the post and at least five of them must be included. (2) Wonderful Paint was backed on his sprint debut but disappointed. Stepping up in distance saw an immediate improvement and he won well.
(4) Pacific Ocean is the one to beat and his last two runs suggest a win is close at hand. (6) Shahbaa has a wide draw for jockey Hayley Turner to overcome but she is a more than capable rider and this runner must be included. (9) O’
Reilly Star is capable of winning and (10) Dream Big is not out of it.
(1) Mister Yeoh may have just needed his last run and he does have an ability so looks the one to beat over a distance that clearly suits him in the second leg. (4)Splinter, (5) Imperium (7) Super Tycoon and (8) Chocante looks
Race 4 is the third leg and this could be the toughest leg. It may be worth including the field. If cutting down then all of (1) Siam Sapphire, (3) Super Power, (4) Arc Triumph, (50 Baffert, (6) Moritz Eclipse and (7) Enchanted Mister have winning chances.
The scratching of (3) Tesoro Privado is an important one in Leg 4 so we may be able to cut this leg down to just three runners. (1) Twickenham has been disappointing of late but is clearly capable of winning a race like this. (2) Mcgregor and (5) Eagle Eye should alsocontest the finish
Some in-form sprinters contest Race 6 and although (10 Gold Strike and (3) Revolution are two good improving three-year-olds there are some hard knocking types and (2)Heartlght, (5) Iffragal and (6) Mo Almighty
can be considered.
A lot of unreliable performers contest the last leg and once again thefield could be the best option. For smaller budget and bigger percentage players (1) Silver Sky, (20 King Of War, (5) Host The Nation and (7) Taichi Belt could do the trick.
Let us cheer the South African riders home in what is a tough task for them as they clearly do not have the best of rides but hopefully we catch the Pick 6.
