Viv Greybe: Lightly raced one-time winner Salimah, out of Dennis Drier’s stable, showed vast improvement last time when teamed up with busy in-form jockey Warren Kennedy and the combination could make further progress on Sunday when contesting Race 6 and top-rated event at the Greyville Polytrack, a MR 84 Handicap (F&M) over 1000m.
The money was on the mark first time out when heavily backed and a resounding 3.75-length winner in a 1000m maiden contest at Scottsville.
This daughter of Trippi was not up to scratch in her next two runs when partnered by Sean Veale again at Kenilworth over 1200m and 1400m. Then returning to base she fared no better at Scottsville over 1000m and 1200m.
However, the filly then returned from a three-month rest with an inspiring run under 61.5kg with Kennedy aboard at Scottsville where she ran on stoutly to finish a 1.75-length third in a 1000m MR 76 Handicap. With the benefit derived from that run, the filly will be tough to beat, more so, with the advantage of the best draw.
Expect stiff rivalry from Garth Puller-trained two-time winner Boeing City (apprentice Serino Moodley) who has been unplaced only once in her four starts at Scottsville. Moodley was up in the filly’s two wins – the last of which was decisive 3.25-length win in a 1000m MR 68 Handicap.
Also to be respected is Paul Lafferty-trained two-time winner Touch Of Magic (Craig Zackey) who confirmed she is fit and well last time when scoring by 3.75 lengths in a 1000m Greyville barrier trial.
Next best are Tweed Valley and Essenceoflife.
A suggested TAB Double for this meeting is 8 Coyote Girl (Race 2) with 6 Champagne Gold (Race 3).
