CLIFFIE MILLER

Viv Greybe: Since joining Cliffie Miller’s stable, four-year-old Timkat had a notable association with jockey Collen Storey and the combination has a bright chance to claim top honours at Flamingo Park on Monday when stepping out in Race 7, the Flamingo Park Sprint (Non-Black Type) over 1200m.

In just eight outings at Flamingo Park they have won five times and were placed second twice.

The four-year-old’s only unplaced run at the venue was in his penultimate outing when he attempted a hat-trick but found 1600m out of his range.

However, the gelding justified favouritism next time when winning with authority by 2.90 lengths in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m. With a favourable inside draw the combination should complete the double.

But expect a strong challenge from four-time winner Emperors Tractor (Nicholas Patel) out of Corrie Lensley’s stable.

This four-year-old was an impressive 4.75-length winner in his penultimate outing over 1400m and was not disgraced next time when up in class and finishing fourth in a Pinnacle Stakes over the same distance.

Also to be considered is the Sarel von Willingh Smit-trained four-time winner Bishop Of Bombay with apprentice Daylon Lerena aboard. This four-year-old was a good third to Timkat three runs back in a 1300m Pinnacle Stakes and followed up with a third over 1400m.

But this gelding’s subsequent run when ridden by a maximum-claiming apprentice and finishing fifth in a Pinnacle Stakes is best overlooked.

Though up in class, another who could be in the final call is seven-time winner Bollemakiesie (Mathew Thackeray), more so, with only 52kg to shoulder.

This five-year-old was a clear-cut winner in his penultimate run over 1300m and followed up with a creditable fourth out of 14 over 1400m. Next best are Soviet Cosmonaut and Zip Line.

However, the best bet on the card is Cliffie Miller-trained Phil’s Power (Storey) who contests Race 2, a 1600m MR 84 Handicap.

This four-time winner has not finished further back than second in his last six starts. His most recent win was three runs back when he scored decisively by 7.75 lengths over 1400m with Storey aboard and the combination followed up with two second-placed runs in Pinnacle contests.
