Igugu’s son wins in UK

Ken Nicol: A three-year-old son of sadly deceased SA champion filly Igugu by Dansili won on debut at Newcastle on Monday.

El Misk went off a strong 8-11 favourite over 2000m on the tapeta, and scored comfortably by a length.

His Racing Post comment for the race reads as follows:

“Dwelt, green and soon pushed along in rear, ridden along over 4f out, switched right to outer over 3f out, headway to chase leaders 2f out, challenged over 1f out, led inside final furlong, kept on well towards finish.”

Trained by John Gosden and owned by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Khalifa Al Makhtoum, the bay colt has been nominated for the Epsom Derby in June, so is clearly rated highly.
