Two Grade 3’s at Greyville

Bonginkosi Nkosi: Sunday’s Greyville card will be headlined by two very competitive Grade 3 contests – the Umzimkhulu Stakes and Byerley Turk – both over 1200m on the Turf track.

Perhaps go the TAB All-To-Come bet route featuring a place on On That Boulevard in Race 4, a win on worthy Pick 6 banker Silvano’s Pride in Race 6, a place on Tristful in Race 7, and lastly, a place on White Lightning in Race 8.

In the Umzimkhulu Stakes, Silvano’s Pride was a gutsy runner-up behind Front And Centre in the Grade 1 Cape Fillies Guineas., and should take some beating.

If she can reproduce that performance, Richard Fourie’s mount will be hard to peg back, especially now that she reverts to battling her own sex.

She was thrown in the deep end in her most recent offering – against highly rated boys like One World and Chimichuri Run – you can put a line through her performance in the R5-million CTS 1600 when beaten 12.05 lengths into ninth place by One World.

She actually tops the best-weighted column, carrying level weight at 58.5kg with her main danger, Santa Clara, who she has already beaten.

Silvano’s Pride should have no trouble outclassing this lot as she runs off a merit rating of 106 while the average of this contest is 91.

The Byerley Turk looks a two-horse race between Tristful and Thanksgiving.

Perhaps float the pair with Rip It Up, Crown Towers, Generous Lady, Hudoo Magic and Desolte Road in your Quartet.
