Jack Milner: While Piere Strydom has gone through all the rigmarole to ride in Mauritius, he has yet to hear if he has been cleared to go.
“Everything that needs to be done has been done,” said Strydom on Sunday. “All the papers are in and I have had the medical. But I have not had any confirmation as yet.
“So, for me, until I do hear something official, it’s business as usual in South Africa.”
Strydom has been offered a three-month contract to ride for Rameshwar Gujadhur on the Indian Ocean Island. “One of the horses he trains is White River, who used to be with Brett Crawford. He’s had one run in Mauritius and it won very easily.”
He was hoping to get clearance to ride by the end of last week but if he does get confirmation in the next day or so, Strydom will fly out by the end of the week.
