Ken Nicol: Roy Had Enough almost certainly sealed a spot in the forthcoming Vodacom Durban July with a thrilling last to first win in the Track and Ball at Scottsville on Saturday.
Ballad Of The Sea had set a moderate gallop, but was quickly challenged by proven stayer Silver Rose as they turned for home.
Favourite Charles had also languished near the rear for most of the 2400m journey, but Corne Orffer looked to have timed it perfectly as he swept by Silver Rose inside the final 200m.
But the master tactician Anton Marcus had the move covered, and the Roy Moodley owned colt found a superior finish to win by just over a length.
Earlier Lucky Houdalakis’ Seville Orange (20-1) Scored a plucky victory under Craig Zackey in the Track and Ball Oaks.
After setting the fractions she was faced with many challenges in the home straight, but battled on gamely to score by a length and a quarter over a fast finishing Flichity By Farr, and Snapscan, who had been handy throughout.
Favourite Blossom (33-20) was placed in a perfect position by Gavin Lerena a few lengths back on the rail. But after briefly moving up to challenge, the Silvano three-year-old became very one paced, and could only manage a well beaten fourth.
