Legendary Australian mare Winx will be covered by leading sire I Am Invincible for her first breeding season.
Winx’s owners announced the decision via a press release on Monday.
“As owners, we have utilised and considered the expert advice of bloodstock professionals both domestically and internationally,” Winx’s ownership group said.
“They provided us with the foundation of information to assess and use to compile the shortlist of stallions for consideration.
“This process highlighted the extreme depth to the stallion ranks in Australia and across the world, however when considering the options of travelling overseas, her welfare remained the highest priority and we decided she would remain in Australia for her first breeding season.
“We are delighted to announce that Winx will visit I Am Invincible for the 2019 breeding season.”
I Am Invincible is second on the general sires list to Snitzel.
His daughter, Invincibella, won the final Group One race of the Australian season on Saturday, the Tatt’s Tiara at Eagle Farm – taking his tally of Australian Group One winners this season to four.
I Am Invincible’s service fee for the 2019 breeding season is $247,500. – punters.com.au
