Hawwaam, the Mike de Kock-trained favourite for the Vodacom Durban July, is now rated joint-13th on the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for three-year-olds and upwards who raced between 1 January and 9 June this year.
He has a rating of 120.
The newest name in the top five in the rankings is Magical (Ire) at a rating of 125.

Magical, who was previously rated at 120, is undefeated in three starts this year. Her latest victory was a seven-length romp in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Group 1), and has also won the Coolmore Highland Reel Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes (Group 2) and Alleged Stakes (Group 3) this year.
Battaash (IRE)  joins this month’s rankings after winning his seasonal debut in the Armstrong Aggregates Temple Stakes (Group 2), which he took by 2.5 lengths. Mustashry (GB)  is equally ranked after his 2.5-length victory in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes (Group 1).
Other horses to impress in Europe include Phoenix Of Spain (IRE)  and Sottsass (FR) . In his 2019 debut, Phoenix of Spain was victorious the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas (Group 1) by three lengths, while Sottsass won the QIPCO Prix du Jockey Club (Group 1) by two lengths.
Also of note is Bricks And Mortar (USA) , who won the Manhattan Stakes (Group 1) by 1.5 lengths. It was his fifth consecutive victory, with his other wins this year including the Old Forester Turf Classic Stakes (Group 1), Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes (Group ), and Muniz Memorial Handicap (Group 2).- IFHA
