Brendan Gaillard: Over the years trainer Vaughan Marshall has built up a decent record when raiding the Eastern Cape and it could be worth being with him at Fairview on Friday.
Racing is on the Polytrack and while some of his runners have yet to run on that surface, all of Sigma Alpha in Race 2, At The Office in Race 4, Blackbeard in Race 6 and Magic Sailor in Race 7 are worth a bet.
Let us start with what could be his biggest priced runner, Stigma Alpha.
This filly has been a disappointment in that she has yet to win after six attempts and was well beaten in her last two starts but it may be worth noting that her last two runs were on a soft track and those runs can be ignored.
The banker, and best on the card, is At The Office as he ran his best race to date when runner-up last time at Kenilworth. His rivals look only moderate and he should win.
Blinkers seem to have done the trick for Blackbeard and after a close-up seventh in his penultimate start, he did much better last time out when running out an easy winner. The five-point penalty may not be enough to stop him this time.
It has been a long time since Magic Sailor has won but he has had success on this surface and from a good draw, could pop up again.
Jockey MJ Byleveld gets the ride on all four of these runners so it is a case of sink or swim with MJ.
