Brendan Gaillard: Although it is usually Muzi Yeni who gets the better rides from trainer Gavin Smith it might be worth having an Eachway wager on Alamito Bay in the last race at Fairview on Friday.

This Jay Peg four-year-old colt is usually not too far back at the finish and is suited to the Polytrack so jockey Gareth Wright might be able to pull off a surprise result.

There are some decent fillies and mares clashing in Race 6, a Conditions Plate over 1400m.

Madame Speaker has done trainer Alan Greeff proud so far having won six of her 16 starts and she was a bit unlucky last time when probably just in need of a run and only 0.50 lengths behind Maverick Girl.

Jockey Greg Cheyne who knows her well is back aboard her this time and that could make all the difference.

Yvette Bremner has her runners in good form and both Via Seattle and March Music will be dangers.

Probably the best bet on this card and banker for all the exotics is Calandra In Race 3. This Irish Flame three-year-old chased home a fair filly when runner-up behind Blushing Bride last time out and should go one better this time as there does not appear to be any runner as good as Blushing Bride in her line-up.

A small field awaits punters in Race 2 and the swinger bet 1 and 3 looks a good option.

Meryl is in good form and is looking for a hat-trick of wins after scoring in August and September. Stable companion Ontenderhooks won full of running at this track over 1800m last month and is clearly better than her last run would have you believe.
