Owners of retired superstar Winx are expected to confirm she is successfully in-foal to super sire I Am Invincible in the coming days.
With protocols akin to a Royal announcement, connections will wait until the results of the 45-day scan before confirming her pregnancy on Monday.
It was announced in June that the four-time Cox Plate winner would be served by the stakes-winning entire and a report in The Australian suggested Winx had failed to become pregnant the first two occasions she was served.
If the scan is confirmed, Winx will give birth in mid-to-late October next year.
Romanticists would be hoping it lands on any of October 22, 24, 27 or 28 – the date of her four Cox Plate victories.
Her owners Debbie Kepitis, Peter and Patty Tighe and Richard Treweeke, are not expected to sell the resultant filly or colt whose value would be unlimited.
The news comes days after it was announced the Sunshine Coast Guineas – the race Winx won to kick off her 33-race streak – would now be known as the ‘Winx Guineas’.
She already has a race named in her honour in NSW, the Group One Winx Stakes – re-named from the Apollo Stakes. punters.com.au, AAP
