Brendan Gaillard: On and on the steam train combination of trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Greg Cheyne goes – and they can add the Breeders Guineas Plate at Fairview on Friday to their long list of victories this season.
Luna Wish represents the bang-in-form duo in the Breeders Guineas, Race 7 on the card over 1400m; and she should go close to winning.
Of her four wins so far Luna Wish has three over this course and distance.
This Querari filly suffered interference at around the 1200m mark last time out but made good late progress when runner-up behind Glory Days and that form should hold up here.
Stable companion Brandina was behind Luna Wish that day and there is no change in the weights so she will need to find a bit to win but she can also get involved with the finish.
Another Greeff runner in the form of Calandra is in good form, winning her last two starts full of running. This Irish Flame filly took a long time to get out of the maiden ranks but is clearly improving.
The Sharon Kotzen-trained Scarborough Fair has only the one win to her name, but she has also run some decent races, particularly when runner-up behind Foreign Source, so she cannot be dismissed away easily.
Greeff has four runners carded in Race 5, a MR 82 Handicap over 1400m and although stable jockey Cheyne will be aboard Seville and Bernard Fayd’Herbe is on Dubula it may pay to have an Eachway strike on Falcon Rock this time.
This Seventh Rock gelding has been battling a bit on the Polytrack but has won on the turf over the course and distance.
Race 3 is a weak field of maidens and both Precious Jewel and Royal Splurge ran well enough in their latest starts to suggest they can contest the finish once again so the Swinger with them is suggested.
