Ken Nicol: Scarlet Chill made a very encouraging comeback following a short rest and should resume winning ways in the headlining Hollywood Greyville Polytrack FM 91 Handicap over 1400m on Wednesday.
This Alyson Wright-trained filly is a daughter of What A Winter, who of course sired two Grade 1 winners at Kenilworth on Sun Met day.
She ran on stoutly from last to only be beaten 1.5 lengths a few weeks ago and should strip fitter on this occasion.
All three of her wins have come over 200m further, but she has displayed a liking for this surface, winning two from three races.
Tristan Godden has struck up a good relationship with the Wright yard lately and if he has her positioned within striking distance turning for home in Race 6, she can be expected to mow them down carrying a handy 56kg.
Oloye and Petra are the two most likely to give cheek.
It may be a day for the lesser lights in the jockey ranks, as another who appeals strongly is Garth Puller’s Noemi in Race 5, a lowly FM 68 Handicap over 1000m.
Promising 4kg-claimer Jabu Jacobs partners this one and she returns to the course and distance over which both of her wins have been scored. From a plum inside draw she will take some stopping.
Of course, you can’t keep Anton Marcus out of the spotlight for long and Vision To Glory in the eighth and final race, has a decent chance of closing his day on a high.
This Visionaire gelding was a well-beaten 2-1 favourite on his Polytrack debut last week, but it was better than it looked, as highly impressive winner Ralph The Rascal streaked clear in the latter stages to win unextended by 3.5 lengths.
There does not look to be any obvious improvers like that here and in a moderate line up Vision To Glory, while nothing out of the ordinary, should get the job done.
Remarkably Marcus was favourite in all eight races when Betting World priced up.
In race order Holy Guacamole (12-10), Fergie’s Rock (11-10), Duchess Of Malfi (13-10), Baby Shooz (12-10), First Sighting (13-10), Petra (22-10), Farland (7-2) and Vision To Glory (13-10) were his board toppers.
Punters should note that due to the abandoned Turffontein meeting from Saturday being rearranged to today a number of jockeys are now not riding at Greyville.
They are Warren Kennedy, Dennis Schwarz, Naresh. Juglall, Calvin Habib, Raymond Danielson and Jason Gates.
In addition, there is no longer a second Jackpot at Greyville. This will now apply to the Turffontein meeting.
