Handicappers kept busy

A number of horses have seen their Merit Ratings adjusted after the Gauteng Guineas meeting on Wednesday 12 February 2020.

Gauteng Guineas (Grade 2)

IKIGAI has seen his rating climb from 114 to 118 after his fluent success in the Grade 2 Gauteng Guineas over 1600m on the Turffontein standside course. The race was postponed from the preceding Saturday because of inclement weather and unsafe conditions.

The Handicappers were of the view that the very consistent runner-up FROSTED GOLD was the right line horse to use when assessing the Guineas and, as such, his rating remains unchanged on 114.  Third placed GREEN LASER goes up from 96 to 109, while fourth finisher ASTRIX is up from 104 to 108. Also upped to 108 (from 98) is fifth placed LEOPOLD, while in the only drop made to any horse following this race EDEN ROC is down from 114 to 110.
