Wagga race by race analysis

Analysis and selections for Wagga on Monday. TAB features a big pool comingled Jackpot on Races 6-9.

Race 1

Form suggests the winner will come from the top three picks.

COSTA CHIN CHIN in the money last start running third at Orange and has five placings from seven runs this prep, a close top selection.

TOUGH DECISION ran fourth last start at Wagga Wagga and should be near the speed in a race without much early pace, consider. POST FREE has the speed to overcome drawing the widest barrier and placed when fresh, can figure.

FIVE STAR MISS finished in the middle of the pack last start at Albury and should run fitter for past attempts, looks threatening.

Selections: 3-5-12-11

Race 2:

MY SOLAKI back after 17 week break and placed when on debut at Gundagai, a winning chance. BAUTISTA first start and has been trialling well in build-up to this prep, could threaten. KATATONIC placed last start at Wagga Wagga and drops 4kg from last run, place claims. THUWAANY drops 1.5kg from last run and likely to race off the speed, needs the breaks.

Selections: 2-3-10-14

Race 3:

Can’t imagine one of the top two not winning. LEG WORK back after 17 week break and drawn the rails, one of the main hopes. CERTAIN SHAFT let-up and likely to settle back in the field, hard to hold out. IVY’S BELLE finished fourth last start at Albury when first up and drops 2kg from last run, place hope. JACQUELINE has placed once in five trials, quinella.

Selections: 1-4-11-6

Race 4

Stand-out between the top two picks. EASTERN WIND resumes after a spell of 20 weeks and racing back from metro track, commands respect. PRIVATE AGENT first start and looks ready to go following convincing trial win at Goulburn, in the mix. CHARMING PAT let-up for six weeks following gelding and has three placings from five runs this prep, don’t treat lightly. EPAULLO CREED first starter and has the benefit of a Queanbeyan trial, place claims.

Selections: 1-5-2-3

Race 5

Hard to see anything upsetting the top two choices. DEMANDING MO was a winner last start at long odds at Albury and two wins from five attempts this campaign, a close top pick. LAUGHING OR CRYING back from 26 week spell and regarded as a strong finisher, can figure. HELCOLORE winner at Albury and placed three times this campaign, don’t dismiss. SOVIET has four placings from six runs this prep and placed last start at Albury, in with a chance.

Selections: 1-2-3-5

Race 6

Hard to see anything upsetting the top two choices. INDIANA ROSE first-up after 15 week break and won at only start at Albury, a close top pick. KAIPAKI in the money last start running third at Albury and should run fitter for past attempts, right in this. BLUE JEAN BABY placed last start at Albury and has two placings from four runs this prep, not without each-way claims. MISS CROMPTON has the speed to overcome a very wide draw and Kayla Nisbet has had success aboard previously, in with a chance.

Selections: 9-2-6-4

Race 8

DARK CONFIDANT comes back to race at a country level and all wins have come when faced with dry ground, genuine contender. BALANSA won three of eight as a favourite and all wins have come when faced with dry ground, could threaten. SHANGANI PATROL has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw and two of four wins have come from dry ground, the real danger in the race. FOOTMARK drops in weight and won once this prep at Wagga Wagga three runs back, sneaky chance.

Selections: 6-3-5-7

Race 9

Hard to see anything upsetting the top two choices. I AM KALANI faded to finish on the winners’ heels last start at Canberra and should race on the speed, marginal top pick.
