Luke Middlebrook, Hong Kong. – Racing returns to Happy Valley on Wednesday 8 April 2020 with an eight-race programme and with no Class 5 races on the card, punters have four Class 4s, three Class 3s and a hotly-contested Class 2 1000m dash to sink their teeth into.
A bit of value comes up nice and early in Race 1 when the Peter Ho-trained Party Together drops to Class 4 in the 1800m event. Party Together is winless from 18 starts in Hong Kong, however at four starts at this track and distance this season, has never been beaten by more than 2.25 lengths.
Party Together has good early speed, which should see him either leading or outside the leader here. In previous attempts in Class 3 he has contested some hotly run races which bode well for a race of this nature.
His main dangers should be Joao Moreira’s mount Everyone’s Elite, himself an 11-start maiden but racing consistently, and Dionysus Collin, a 17-start maiden but also in consistent form.
Holy Heart in Race 7, a Class 3 event over 1650m, is the bet of the night after narrowly missing at this track and distance 28 days ago. Holy Heart is another maiden galloper but has not been disgraced in nine attempts at which he’s placed on five occasions.
Zac Purton remains aboard Holy Heart after teaming up last time out. Drawn well in barrier 2 should see him get one of the runs of the race. He looks hard to hold out.
Race 1: 9-8-1-10
Race 2: 2-3-1-11
Race 3: 4-1-2-10
Race 4: 10-3-2-1
Race 5: 10-2-3-6
Race 6: 3-7-8-4
Race 7: 1-6-7-3
Race 8: 2-10-5-4
Race 1: Everyone’s Elite is a nice horse who is a model of consistency and looks to get a top chance to shed his maiden tag. Dionysus Collin still a maiden galloper but gets his chance to win and will be greater value with Moreira jumping off. Keep very safe. Party Together drops down in grade and start following. Based on past Class 3 runs, he looks like a solid contender. Galaxy Emperor faded late last start, chance to improve under right race shape. Salto Olimpico has a chance based on past form in this class of race. Long shot chance.
Race 2: Let’s Take It Easy has been placed last three starts, deserves a win soon. Blinkers on, barrier 1 and Purton remaining on board stand him out against the rest. Charity Grand reaching peak form and can go close here. No surprise to see Moreira jump on. Happy Warrior good performance when storming home for a nice second last start. Vital Spring ran the second fastest sectional time last start after copping a check early. Focus having first try at this distance and could be an improver.
Race 3: Lucky Quality had genuine excuses last start and can improve in this race. Looked well in a recent trial. Harmony N Home finished powerfully with fastest sectional time ranking last start after a slow start. Nearing a win. Master Albert racing in career-best form and must be rated a good chance. Super Alliances remains a maiden galloper but gets a chance to win here. Slight query with his past lameness issues. Jolly Convergence has ability and should not be underestimated in this grade.
Race 4: Simply Fluke change of trainer recently and can improve, but again draws a horror wide alley. Amazing generally gets back in the running but dashes strongly home. Looks hard to hold out with a bit of pace on in this race. Gunnar consistent form lately and is capable of winning with a well-tied ride by the kid. Momentum Galaxy looks ready to run a big race taking a drop into Class 4. Destine Jewellery last run suggested a win was very near. Good effort off a slow early speed.
Race 5: Diamond Brilliant has been placed last two starts and deserves a win soon. Last run was very good after doing the early hard work from a wide draw. Jumbo Happiness was an easy last start winner and is more than capable of repeating the dose. Keep safe. Beauty Amigo looks capable of improving to be placed after a solid run in a fast run race. Seventh Sea generally gets back in the running but dashes strongly home. Sunset Watch down in class here and can surprise.
Race 6: Allied Agility video replay showed the last run was very good after a slow start. Can race on pace with a clean getaway and prove a top winning chance. Very Sweet Orange racing in career-best form and must be rated a good chance. Amazing Kiwi has improved since blinkers were added, nearing a win. Be Ready always finishes close up and must be rated a chance at this level with Purton on. Special Stars ran the fourth fastest sectional time last start after being snagged back mid-race. Capable, but not a horse to back at short odds.
Race 7: Holy Heart remains a maiden galloper but clearly gets a chance to win here after narrowly beaten last start. Looks his race to lose. Green Reign well supported last start, fair run but was better than it looked given the early fractions. Rises in trip and that appears suitable. Flash Famous racing in career-best form and must be rated a good chance. Smoothies good effort last start leading all the way to win. Farshad video replay showed the last run was very good.
Race 8: Stronger go on the win two starts ago and give a chance here. Has trialled very well since his last start failure and looks a good chance to bounce back. This Is Class was an easy last start winner and must be respected. Has more to come based on recent wins. Hong Kong Bet has a better chance on this track and should run well. Gentle Breeze should be highly suited by the drop back in distance.
