Race-by-race ananlysis of Saturday’s meeting at Sha Tin in Hong Kong.

Race 1: Shinealot looked unlucky when being held up at a crucial stage last start and should have finished much closer. Consider again with Purton aboard. Witness Hunter making Class 5 debut and must be respected. Trialled well after a stable change and looks an improver here. Keep Winning placed last start and looks a chance to run well again with Moreira in the saddle. Little General well supported last start, fair run, can improve on a good track. Great Smart well supported last start and won accordingly, might be able to go on with it but draws wide.

Race 2: Bright Kid looked unlucky when being held up at a crucial stage last start. Glenealy Generals has improved since the blinkers were reapplied and is always dangerous in this grade. Wood On Fire had genuine excuses last start, pulling up with blood in the trachea, and consider again. Looks to get the run of the race. Diamond Rhyme change of trainer recently and watch betting, big chance of being an improver here. Farm Bumper always finishes close up and must be rated a chance under Moreira.

Race 3: Mighty Valor showed plenty of speed to lead and draw away for a big win last start, looks a solid chance of going on with it and appears better than Class 4 quality. Gallant Legacy go on solid previous effort where form looked good. Consider with Moreira in the saddle. Rewarding Together turned in a very nice debut run and looks to have promising ability, one to follow second-up. Angel Of My Eyes not tested in recent trial and looks very well, Purton rides and worth considering. Hero Star comes out of a strong form race and looks suited here.

Race 4: Smart Leader trainer has been in great form, so respect here. Drawn well in barrier No 3 and looks to map well to be a winning hope. Hardly Swears racing well with excellent sectional time rankings and will appreciate a good tempo. Could be hard to hold out. Total Excess second start and will be fitter, debut run was more than a pass mark and Purton sticks with. Take What You Need always finishes close up and must be rated a chance at this level but draws wide. Tom’s Style had excuses last start when racing wide without cover, could surprise with better luck.

Race 5: Party Everyday last start winner who retains good form and can run well again. Has always shown ability and remaining in Class 4 holds him in good stead. Jade Fortune recent runs have been encouraging and can run well. Momentum Happy changed stables recently and has improved. Will show speed and give you a good sight. Righteous Mate generally gets back in the running but dashes strongly home, look for him late if the pace is on. Hidden Spirit racing in career-best form and must be rated a chance but this is tougher.

Race 6: Heza Beauty nice horse who is a model of consistency and looks a big chance to shed his maiden tag this week. Armor Star holding form with recent good trial and looks well but needs luck from barrier No 10. Circuit Hassler caught wide last start and still ran well, edging close to a win in the grade and consider for exotics. Speed Fay Fay turned in a nice effort last run when finishing strongly and looks well, but barrier No 14 makes things tricky. Wayfoong Star had betting support last start and where there is smoke there is fire. Blinkers are also added first time.

Race 7: Beauty Happy was an easy 2.50-length winner last start winner and must be respected. Appears capable of heading higher in the handicap and could be a handy stayer in the making. Happy Sebring had genuine excuses last start and can improve in this race. Charity Go had excuses last start when racing wide without cover, can improve with Purton in the saddle. Defining Moment looked unlucky when being held up at a crucial stage last start. Vincy good performance when storming home for a nice second last start.

Race 8: Touch Of Luck good effort when narrowly beaten last start and is racing in consistent form and is the one to beat from barrier No 2. London Luckystar nice effort last start when storming home, appears ready to win. Kyrus Unicorn ran the third fastest sectional time last start and is a chance to finish in the top three this week. Clear Choice consistent form lately and is more than capable of winning this if things go right. Namjong Plus generally gets back in the running but dashes strongly home.

Race 9: Kasi Farasi change of trainer recently and can improve. Hasn’t trialled but Purton has been aboard in almost all his fast work and he looks one to follow first-up. Joyful Heart is better than recent form indicates and can improve. Comes into a low draw and should race much handier than recent starts. Craig’s Star turned in a good run last start and must rate a good chance. Beauty Spirit well supported last start, fair run, can go well on pace. Great Treasure generally gets back in the running but dashes strongly home, could be suited by the race shape.

Race 10: Beauty Applause resuming from a break and trialled well on four occasions for his return. Looks well. Dan Control is back in good form and must be considered a big chance with race fitness on his side. Happy Fun looks a solid good chance based on last start but needs a touch more luck than others from barrier No 10. Mongolian King generally gets back in the running but dashes strongly home, could be well suited if the pace is on. Circuit Three talented galloper who is resuming from a break but the betting market will be a good guide
