Larry Foley: While the Polytrack is a terrific track and we have seen some good racing over the last few weeks, a return to the turf racing at Kranji on Sunday will bring a smile to many an enthusiast’s dial.
It is a mixed surface meeting – and there are some good Poly races to punt on – but the Class 1, 1400m turf event (Race 12) is an absolute cracker with many a Group winner heading to the start.
In fact, the Gold Cup winner MR CLINT is at the top of the weights and while the Group 1 winner is obviously better over longer, his first up placing over 1200m on the Poly suggests he has a big say in this.
The Stewards’ Cup form will also hold up here with SIAM BLUE VANDA and TOP KNIGHT two to watch from that race.
The Mike Clements-trained duo ran one-two respectively in the Group 2 1600m race and no reason to think the pair won’t be strong late in this race and will be hard to hold out.
The pace will be genuine with YULONG EDITION likely to lead and while up in class, the five-year-old gets a handy 3kg claim and he will certainly give a sight.
Elsewhere on the 14-race card, the Vlad Duric/Ricardo Le Grange combination look to have a strong hand in Race 9 where WATER ROCKET is hardest to beat, while FIELD MARSHALL has each-way claims in the lucky last.
