Singing Sword, Vaal today.
SINGING SWORD may be six years old but there is life in the old boy yet. Just when everybody had written him off Tyrone Zackey’s charge flew up late to deny the well-supported Buscador in a Pinnacle Plate over 1450m on the Turffontein inside track earlier this month to record his ninth career success.
GYPSY’S WARNING will be fully tested when she takes on Dancer’s Daughter in the Grade 1 Laurie Jaffee Empress Club Stakes on Guineas Day at Turffontein. The pair will clash over 1600m on Saturday 28 February.
Trainer 'Lucky' Houdalakis.
WHEN all the fuss was going on around JJ The Jet Plane, trainer Lucky Houdalakis always said: “Don’t forget my filly.’’ He was referring to Supper Club, who was one of the best of her age.
Trainer Alan Greeff.
TRAINER Mitchell Wiese returns home345 following a visit to the Western Cape where he enjoyed a fair measure of success. He saddles Lizard’s Desire in Race 6, the Sophomore Plate over 1400m at Fairview today.

THE 2009 Dubai International Racing Carnival is approaching the halfway mark and with Mike de Kock on record saying that his runners are “turning the corner’’, one can expect the stable to have at least one winner at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse tomorrow night.
Trainer Sean Tarry
PLEASE take note that racing has been moved from turf to sand track:
Most punters naturally assume Anton Marcus rides the stable elect when Charles Laird has more than one runner in a race, but Thursday at the Vaal a couple of the jockey’s decisions appear somewhat strange.
Sean Tarry, key runners.
THERE are over 30 scrachings from today’s race meeting at the Vaal following its move from the turf to the sand track and punters should take careful note of changes. In addition turf ratings won’t be adjusted to sand ratings, which will give certain runners a benefit in theory.
Trainer Gavin van Zyl.
FOLLOWING an appalling run where the stable were battling to even go home345 with the occasional placing, Gavin van Zyl’s yard came back to form with a vengeance at Scottsville last week with a four-timer. Van Zyl added another winner to his tally when Super Senyk claimed the last race at Greyville on Sunday.
Jockey Piere Strydom.
RENEGADE is two points under sufferance with Mentor in Race 6, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m at the Vaal Tuesday, but relishes the soft sand track and rates the one to beat. The Dominion Royale gelding will be ridden by Piere Strydom, who was in hot form at Turffontein on Saturday and looks sure to continue riding the crest of the wave.
Peter Miller, Lawful Leader
LAWFUL Leader has won 13 races at Flamingo Park. He is ideally suited to the 1800m he races over in Race 5 at the Kimberley track on Monday and should be the one that they all chase home345 yet again. Andrew Fortune is up again and he and the Brazilian-bred gelding have struck up a formidable partnership.
